Thanks!
The Generations Garden project is an exciting new intergenerational initiative in the Martindale-Brightwood community which is focused on helping families learn how to garden and cook with fresh produce.
Through a grant from Indy Star, an Our Children innovation grant, and the combined efforts of staff from the Edna Martin Christian Center, Felege Hiywot Center, and KIPP Indy Public Schools, the Generations Garden was launched in Spring 2018. Over the course of the growing season, four new community gardens were built, and 60 families were given a raised bed garden plot, along with gardening tools, seeds & plants, cooking utensils, and instruction and mentorship from student leader gardeners from Felege Hiywot.
Friends have been made, useful skills learned, and delicious food enjoyed and shared together.
If YOU are interested in having a garden plot in a Generations Garden in 2019, please make sure to contact Felege Hiywot: (317) 545-2245.
Thanks to CICF and all the Volunteers who are helping to transform the inner-city's vacant lots into productive gardens!
