Edna Martin Christian Center and the NE Corridor Jobs and Training team, conducted their annual Spring Hiring Fair. We had over 15 employers hire and/or consider hiring several of our participants that came out. Some of the Jobs and Training partners are Job Corps, John Boner Neighborhood Center, YouthBuild, VOA, Resurrection Community Church, E. 38th St. Library and UNEC. Our members through our Foundation Week, do self discovery. They look at changing their billboards of their everyday attire and attitude. We assist the members to change their mindset about who and what they want to do in life. We encourage all members to construct a dream/goal/vision board, to hold themselves accountable for what goals they have in life and what they want to accomplish.

Today we conducted a Taste of Martindale-Brightwood event, in conjunction with our Occupational Skill Training, Logistic Associate and Culinary Arts Training recognition. This taste provided a brunch meal. Also, we recognized our Culinary Arts and Logistic Associates students. These students have earned multiple certifications offered through our Career Education and Training Academy at EMCC.

This is one of our members who we’ve done a makeover on. He currently is in the Logistics Associate training, and will be completing soon. He is also, in search for employment. We decided to assist him in changing his billboard. He has received a haircut and Goodwill clothing vouchers to purchase interviewing clothing.
