Housing & Community Development
In May 2022, EMCC formed a Community Based Development Organization subsidiary, or CBDO. A CBDO is a nonprofit focused on housing issues and other community-wide initiatives & concerns. EMCC’s CBDO launched in 2023, with successful application to the City of Indianapolis’ Vacant to Vibrant grant program, allowing us to acquire and begin renovations on three houses. Once complete, these houses will be available for sale to residents who are engaged in our MBEZ program and complete EMCC’s Homeownership 101 course.
Homeownership 101 Training
EMCC will conduct Homeownership 101 training quarterly. The Homeownership 101 training is a four-week training program covering budgeting, perceived barriers, renting versus homeownership, credit building, and more. Once the families have completed the training, they will work with their Family Success Coach to increase their credit score and income to qualify for homeownership. For more information, contact CBDO Executive Director Immanuel Ivey: iivey@ednamartincc.org.
