25th Street Corridor Renaissance
This community-driven project focuses on projects that forge neighborhood identity. Events, programs, and targeted developments will all enhance the 4-mile stretch from the Monon Trail to Sherman Ave.
GOALS:
- Expose the artistic gifts and talents of residents.
- Enable more residents to participate in neighborhood-centric events.
- Enrich the daily lives of residents with more access to art and culture.
- Engage seniors as their dreams for the neighborhood become reality.
- Encourage youth to participate in positive activities as an alternative to anti-social behavior.
- Explore the intersection of MB’s history and future through planned projects.
- Expand participation in events year-round.
- Experience first-hand how arts/cultural activities contribute to the resurgence of economic development along the corridor.
2018 Developments Include
Redevelopment of a 13-acre property including a Senior Center, child care center, in- school youth center, and new college-to-career high school—the largest community-led development in the area.
2019 Developments Include
Launch of the Community Solutions and Entrepreneurship Center; Two-Gen Literacy Center; 2-acre urban farm in partnership with Brandywine Creek Farms; business façade improvements; community marketplace at 25th and Andrew Brown; and the opening of the community high school.
2020 Developments Include
New affordable housing options contiguous to the Corridor.
